Representing my poetic triplets

These are three Versus Verses poetry collections, each focusing on a slightly different angle:

1. Feel – deals with just letting out your emotions into poetry, using poetry as an almost healing, meditative process, not being ashamed to show when you feel down, tired, empty, drained, frustrated, angry… For me, it is so effective that I rarely go back to those poems once I write those feelings out of me, but I must have written the bad moods out truly well, because I’ve had readers ask me after reading it if I was all right.

2. Love – Not sure if you’ve noticed, but these subtitles are not nouns, but verbs. So don’t expect swooning, sweating or googly-eyed poems from this one. This is about learning how to love, focus and channel it, express it, even the for those you don’t like but have to bear in life, and even, or especially, the love for yourself. Loving yourself enough to admit you don’t like some people but will not let it eat you up from inside. Loving your partners, children, work even…

3. Imagine – Aaah the stuff imagination can provide! Imagine if you could see the world differently, see the beyond, both the bad and the good, the magic we mostly consider unreal… Imagine also being able to identify with a wolf, a drop of water, a deep well… You can, you know. Imagine. Anything is possible.

Just the three of them…

And then there were three… Here they are – my three poetry collections finally at home, nicely snuggled on my bookshelf after posing for this photo. Who knew I’d get here some day, right;)?!

The Sea

And when the wave sings out my darkness,
Soaking my night into deep silence,
Only a whisper will stay within me,
The whisper of my darkness,
A solitude, calmness,
No drama, no stress.
On top of the wave it’s me and my soul,
Pure, serene, my own.
Hence the sea.
Hence the wave.
It’s where I am the one.
It’s where I am I.

#sneakpeek into my new release Versus Verses – Imagine

When Your Demon Comes

When your demon comes
(and it will)
A volcano will pound
A tumultuous sound
Your eyes will burn
Your head will ache
Lava will surge
Erupt from your heart
And flow through your body
At the speed of light
Don’t stop it
Or freeze it
Just let it flow
And wait.

When your demon comes
(and it will)
Keep still
It will heal
Close your eyes
Breathe deep
Relax your shoulders
And imagine a dew drop
On a green leaf
Sparkling in early sunlight
Caress it with your breath
Don’t break it
Or wipe it off
Then open your eyes
And smile.

When your demon comes
(and it will)
Let it live
But believe
It will help you
It is your friend
And let it wash its face
Cool the lava with the dew
Let it give its strength
To your mind’s power
Embrace it
And wield it
Then do what is right
And be strong.

As sorrow washes over
My pain-stricken soul,
And I feel something broken,
Losing all control,
I wish I could curl up
In a lily on a lake
To find a better world
Once I am awake.
I cry out to my friends,
I let my tears flow.
My body is so tired,
But it will heal, I know.
The moon will bring me night time,
Perhaps even a dream.
I’ll meet my gentle angel,
Or at least so it will seem.
And life will bring new miracles.
That’s one thing I do know.
When rain covers my sun,
Life sends me a rainbow.

As night approaches

And I feel like a howl,

The moon is so distant,

I can’t help but growl

So low, barely heard,

Still honest and true,

Whatever you think of me,

Whatever you do.

My thoughts are my cave,

My soul is my shrine,

My moods are my windows,

My sadness is mine.

Your mind and my own

May not always be one,

But I must chase my fury

Or I’ll be undone.

My demons need voicing,

In stories or verse,

Or they’ll take me over,

My dreams will disperse.

So let my beast be,

Its tale needs a bark,

And when light returns,

It will mellow my dark.

Writer’s Gift 4U from Phoenix Rainez

To end this challenging year, there is nothing like having a guest over. A romance author with a kind heart, Phoenix Rainez will make this transition from 2017 into 2018 smooth and gentle! Here she is, sharing with you some of her latest poetry:).

AUTHOR : Phoenix Rainez

GENRES : Romance, Erotica, Poetry

1. Do you have a favourite winter holiday story?

No favourite winter holiday story, but my favourite holiday film would have to be LOVE ACTUALLY.  I have so many books in my collection still to read, I honestly don’t have time to re-read any of the books I’ve already read.

2. Which character from a holiday story would you like to be?

I think I’d love to be Elsa from Frozen.

3. What is your ideal way to spend Christmas Eve this year?

Curling up with a good book all day in my pj’s and a steaming mug of hot chocolate.

4. If you could travel anywhere this winter, where would it be and why?

I’d love to visit Lapland during a winter holiday season.

5. What would you like to ask your readers?

I’d like to ask my readers if they think a companion novella is a good way to introduce other characters in the story.

Do share a sneak peek into your current work in progress.

My present work in progress is my poetry book.

Give us a riddle to your wip.

When you need to share a secret quietly you ….

Where can we follow your progress?

What’s the blurb for your work in progress?

No one asks to fall in love, but sometimes it happens, and the timing is all wrong.  So, they wish upon stars for a love they can’t hold, and whisper their love on the wind, across oceans that keep them apart.

Sneak peek, please?

1st poem from my new poetry book:

You’re the whisper on my mind

Wrapped around my heart

I see you in my dreams

And touch you when I sleep

Your love is like a whisper

From a time so far away

Caught in a moment of silence

On the tail of a shooting star

We dare in dreams to share

A whisper of love so soft

Like the feathers on a breeze

Of a lover’s dream in thoughts

Sailing those intimate waves

Of a secret love lost in thought

We touch only in dreams

Our love just a breath

A whispered I love you

MY HOLIDAY WISH for my readers is that they find the time to read all the books they want to, not only over the holidays, but all year through.

Thank you, dear Phoenix. May your 2018 be a happy beginning to a new adventure!

Filling the Void

The paper is empty.

It looks at me blank.

I feel I have nothing to give.

Then letters come pouring.

Stories unwind.

The book people begin to live.

The canvas is white.

It looks like a shroud.

Will my colours help it survive?

I pick up a brush.

The strokes reveal all.

Emotions and dreams are alive.

The room is so silent.

It haunts me to pain.

If only a sound helped it heal.

My thoughts echo sounds.

My lyrics are true.

I know what I want and feel.

Chat with the author:

1. What is your favourite winter holiday story you have read and like to go back to, and why?

You might call me boring, but I love Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I like that’s its traditional, in all the senses of the word, and I like the moral of the tale.

2.  Which winter holiday character, custom or decoration would you like to be and why?

I must own up to being a bit of a ‘Bah Humbug’ about the commercialism of Christmas, so I think I should be Ebenezer Scrooge… after the ghosts have visited!

3. What is your absolutely the most favourite thing to do during the winter holidays?

I love putting on a great spread of food, a buffet, on Boxing Day and/or at New Year and hold an open house for family and friends.

4. If you could travel anywhere in the world during the winter holiday season, where would you go and why?

If I could guarantee a very snowy period, I mean deep white fairy tale snow, I would love to spend it in an isolated cottage in the Scottish Highlands. Just my wife and I, hidden away from the world!

5. What would you like to ask your readers?

What kind of story would you like me to write next, and would you like to be a character in it?

Sneak peek & riddle for a WORK IN PROGRESS (yay, an exclusive!)

I have asked the authors to take these 4 little steps for you;), readers, about their latest book or work un progress.step 1: give us a riddle about a character, place or key word in your book.

Sometimes, it is Dark inside you.

step 2: give us the cover and link for the book (if wip, pls share your link where we can follow your progress)

It is a WiP, due out 1st February. (scroll down)

step 3: give us the short blurb for the story

This is a collection of dark tales & darker poetry. It is like listening to a sad record when you are feeling down, reading dark tales smothers you in a blanket of comfort… or maybe not?

step 4: sneak peek, pls

Rockabye baby.

Rockabye baby, broken and scarred.

Black rains a ’tumbling, falling hard,

Icy winds blowing, cutting deep,

Autumn leaves swirling into a heap,

She took the knife and held it high,

Cold steel pressed against her thigh

One more slice, deep into a vein,

Bleed out the fear, remorse and pain,

Closing her eyes, breathing out her last,

Sleep is coming, taking away her past,

Naked she lays, sprawled across the bed,

Hushabye baby, you’re almost dead.

Your holiday wishes for your readers, besides world peace, of course:)

Enjoy your friends, family and loved ones company, remember;  Every piece of the universe, even the tiniest little snow crystal, matters somehow.

I have a place in this pattern, and so do you.

Thank you so much, Paul. Best of luck with your work in progress and all your other creative adventures!
